Randy Ericksen
Since 2016, when Randy joined the ForSea Solutions team as the leading Fisheries Expert and Strategic Advisor, he has been a scientific and technical expert for Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) fishery certifications and Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) in salmon, pollock and cod fisheries across the Russian Far East as well as for shellfish fisheries along the US Pacific Coast and Gulf of Mexico. Randy has been an invaluable partner and mentor to Natasha Novikova, laying the foundation and crafting a strategic framework for ForSea Solutions' future. Randy brings over 35 years of experience in international fisheries sustainability, seafood certification, ranking criteria, fish stock assessments, monitoring, escapement goal evaluation, and run forecasting. He has evaluated the impact of climate change on global wild salmon markets and assessed the effectiveness of tuna fishery improvement projects in Indonesia. Randy, founder and fisheries advisor at RP Ericksen Consulting, previously served in roles including fishery manager and researcher at Alaska Fish and Game, salmon management specialist at Wild Salmon Center, and Fisheries Science Director at Ocean Outcomes. Randy has advised organizations like MSC, Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch, Fair Trade, and the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) on seafood certification/ranking criteria. As a certified MSC Team Member with Level 2 Capacity Building Training, he's recognized as a registered MSC Fishery Technical Consultant. Randy received a Master of Science degree in Fisheries Science from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
